Rev. John Wise, minister at Chebacco from 1680, uncle of Mary (Lamb) Low. “Jno Wise” signed the Ipswich petition of 1692 for John and Elizabeth Proctor. In 1687 the official who answered his tax protest told him, “Mr. Wise, you have no more privileges Left you then not to be Sold for Slaves” (Wikipedia, citing Alan Taylor).

    Thomas Low and Rev. John Wise spoke up for the Proctors in 1692

    Deacon Thomas Low ("Tho. Low Sanor") and "Jno Wise" are among the 31 signers of the Ipswich petition of August 1692 for John and Elizabeth Proctor (Salem Witchcraft Papers no. 107). Caleb Low's wife Abigail Varney was John Proctor's great-niece: her grandmother Abigail (Proctor) Varney was his sister.

    Rev. John Wise, pastor at Chebacco, was Mary Lamb's uncle

    Roxbury records give Mary Wise (bp. 27 Feb 1649/50), later Caleb Lamb's wife, and John Wise (bp. 15 Aug 1652) as children of Joseph Wise. John was the Chebacco minister from 1680, so David Low's bride was his niece. How the couple met is not recorded.
