Notes
Born in Liberty Township, Jackson County, Ohio, in 1850, the son of Ralph Hatten and Sarah Ann Philbrick, who later moved to Minnesota. A Thomas Hatten was a railway conductor at Jamestown, North Dakota, who went to Northfield in 1915 “to look after farm matters and a timber deal”; his wife “Mrs T J Hatten” had a son Lieut. Tom Hatten in France in 1919, and a Leigh Rex Hatten was on the Jamestown draft list in 1918 (source). Whether she was Sarah (Allee), or a second wife, the censuses will tell.
