Alice Freeman
A well-known "gateway" ancestor, probably the widow of John Tompson of Little Preston and the mother of Mary Tompson, who married Joseph Wise. Her brother Thomas Freeman of Cranford, gent., named "sister Tompson" and her children in his will of 1637, and by April 1640 she was at Roxbury with her daughters Mary, Bridget and Dorothy. Through Dorothy (Tompson) Parke she was probably an ancestor of Diana, Princess of Wales.

Notes
Widow of John Tompson of Little Preston. Her brother, Thomas Freeman of Cranford, gent., left a will in 1637 naming “sister Tompson” and her children, among them Mary and Bridget. She was at Roxbury by April 1640 with her daughters Mary, Bridget and Dorothy. No relation is known to Edmund Freeman of Sandwich.
She is a well-known “gateway” ancestor. Her descent from King John has been disproved (the Joan de Harley link, The Genealogist 1980 and 1989, and the Margaret ferch Llywelyn link). WikiTree reports a line from Æthelred II used by Gary Boyd Roberts; it has not been evaluated. Roberts documents her as a 10th-great-grandmother of Diana, Princess of Wales, through her daughter Dorothy (Tompson) Parke, which makes Harriet Low a distant cousin of Diana.

Mollie's typescript
- DisprovenMary Tompson was a daughter of Rev. William Tompson of Braintree
Not his daughter. Mollie's own date for her, "born before or shortly after 1636", cannot fit a bride of 1641, and in 1643 his wife left "a company of small children" (Winthrop). Scholars (TAG 13, 56, 87) make Mary, bp. 1619, a daughter of John Tompson, gent., of Little Preston and Alice Freeman, which Anderson calls probable.
