Notes

Father of Jane Maria (Deyoe) Adams. The eldest son of James Deyoe and grandson of Peter Deyo of Pittstown, he lived at Pittstown in Rensselaer County through the censuses of 1810, 1820 and 1830 and moved to Wilton, Saratoga County, about 1832; he is there in 1840 (source). He married Elizabeth Esmond, who died in 1841; their children, as Hasbrouck lists them, were Jane Maria (1809), James C., Harriet, A. I. Esmond (1818), Mynard (1819), Katie, Zacharias (1823), Hannah, Matilda and Warren (source). He died at Wilton in April 1857.

Open questions

  • His mother. His father married Maria Cole on 3 Mar 1788, four months after the birth date Hasbrouck gives him; whether Maria was his mother, or one of the dates is wrong, is not known.
  • His probate (Saratoga, 1857), which should name his daughter Jane Adams.
