James Deyoe
Grandfather of Jane Maria (Deyoe) Adams, born in 1764 and probably a son of Peter Deyo of Pittstown, New York. He married Maria Cole in 1788, was at Pittstown in 1800 and later lived at Stillwater, Saratoga County, where he died in 1841 and is buried in the Hart Cemetery. His will names eight children, among them Peter J. Deyoe of Wilton.

- Peter Deyo
Peter Deyo's will of 4 Apr 1812 names nine children, James first (Hasbrouck's abstract). Against it: a descendant of his brother Zachariah, quoted by LeFevre in 1909, calls Zachariah (b. 1774) "the oldest son" and dates Peter's marriage to 1765, after James's birth. Neither is fatal, but it keeps the link at probable. A full reading of the will (Columbia and Rensselaer Surrogates) and James's baptism would settle it.

Peter's only wife, as Hasbrouck says ("Peter was married only once"); but the marriage is dated 1765, the year after James's birth.

- Maria Cole
Born 1760, died 18 Sept 1848 aged 88; his widow in 1841. WikiTree makes her Catherine Maria Cole (Koel) of Tarrytown, of a Palatine family.

Notes
Grandfather of Jane Maria (Deyoe) Adams. A son of Peter Deyo of Pittstown, he was “James Deo” at Pittstown in the 1800 census and later lived at Stillwater, Saratoga County. His will, proved 2 June 1841, “names widow Maria of Stillwater; children: Peter J. of Wilton, Mynard of Stillwater, Thomas of Malta, Hannah wife of Peter D. Esmond of Saratoga Springs, Charity wife of Alexander Smith of Northumberland, Lotelia wife of Nicholas Torrey of Great Bend, Sally wife of Rufus Eldridge of Stillwater, Maria wife of Daniel B. Carpenter of Corinth” (source). Hatcher’s Abstract of Graves of Revolutionary Patriots indexes Deyoes near Pittstown and Tomhannock who may include him and his father; that is a lead, not a finding.
He is not the “James Jacobus Jr.” Deyo of Ghent, Columbia County (c. 1754-1822), a namesake of the same family.
