Compiled profiles, read through the WikiTree API in the October 2026 research on the Ellingwood line (Woodbury, Rand–Cheever–Ivory and Slater lines behind the Ellingwoods, Ellingwood_Wives_Families.md, Ellingwood_Cape_Cod.md). Each profile is only as good as the sources it cites; where a profile quotes a record (a FamilySearch index, a will abstract, a census), the record is named on the page that uses it.

  • Woodbury-17 (Thomas, probate docket 30516, 20 Apr 1719), Woodbury-21 (William, will 6 Nov 1725, proved 29 Nov 1725), Woodbury-600, Woodbury-1256 (Sarah); Wheeler-205; Cheever-88 (Abigail Milam, citing Torrey's New England Marriages), Cheever-120 to -126; Salter-1649.
  • Pattullo-22 (Mary), Pattullo-42 (Halkett: baptism 1809; married Jane Robson 12 Dec 1833, Home District; died 7 June 1865; buried Christian Cemetery, Princeton, Oxford County), Pattullo-87 (Alexander Pattullo, c. 1773 Dundee - 8 Dec 1828 Caledon; Jean Watson, b. 3 May 1771 Prestonpans, d. 8 Aug 1852 Caledon), Pattullo-5, -36, -48; Robson-1781 (Jane Robson, b. c. 1809 Eckford, Roxburghshire, d. 4 Apr 1879).
  • Short-3592 (John Short, 8 Aug 1808 - 4 Oct 1858, Orono) and Jeffrey-573 (Mary Jeffrey, 8 Jan 1809 Berwick-upon-Tweed - 15 Nov 1883 Woodstock), citing Ward Skinner's compiled Descendants of William Jeffrey and the 1861 and 1881 censuses; Short-3745 (John Gerald Short and his children).
  • Read again 10 Oct 2026 for the comparison with the FamilySearch tree (Ruth Short's ancestry: the archive, the Ancestry tree, WikiTree and FamilySearch compared):
    • Short-3592: "A note in the Short family history says that John was born in Newcastle, England" (the profile's birthplace field has "Rufley, Northumberland Co., Ontario"); married Mary Jeffrey 7 Jan 1836, Cobourg; his family "moved to Woodstock after his death and lived on Graham St." (Skinner). Short-3745 (John Gerald) also cites Jim Jeffrey's Genealogy of the Jeffrey Family (jeffreyroots.com).
    • Jeffrey-569 (William Jeffrey, b. 10 Jan 1772, Berwickshire; d. 10 May 1852, Keene, Peterborough County) and Lyall-333 ("Mary Edna" Lyall, b. 4 May 1773, Chirnside; d. 26 May 1857, Peterborough), as Mary Jeffrey's parents, all from Skinner's family lore. John Graham, there quoted: William "came from the tiny village of Foulden ... He was a blacksmith ... No record has been found of his birth, baptism or marriage"; he came to Canada first, said to be to help rebuild the St. Louis Gate at Quebec, and Mary and their "five children, one boy and four girls, all born in Foulden" followed, settling near Keene. Bob Rumsey: the Jeffreys and Lyalls came together in 1820 and settled at Cobourg. A stone at Little Lake Cemetery, Peterborough: "Sacred to the memory of Mary Lyall wife of William Jeffrey aged 83." Further generations (Jeffrey-2830 to -2833, Steele, Lyall, Simpson and others) are entered without sources.
    • Pattullo-87 (Alexander Pattullo): married Jean Watson 9 Oct 1806, Inveresk with Musselburgh (FamilySearch index XY9W-DYN); named in the indexed baptisms of James (1807, FQM7-M6P) and "Hacket" (1809, FQMQ-1H4); buried Melville White Church Cemetery, Caledon. Its research note offers a "possible" baptism of 29 Nov 1772 at Bellie, Moray (parents James Pitilloe and Jean Gordon), and quotes Berniece Trimble, Belfountain: Caves, Castles and Quarries in the Caledon Hills: Alexander was "a native of Prestonpans, near Edinborough, Scotland and later a resident of Glasgow," came in the autumn of 1820 and settled on Lot 2, Con. 6, Caledon; "In 1823 his wife and family, James, Thomas, Halkett, Margaret and Jane, joined him." Halkett "continued to live on his father's farm" and had "five daughters and five sons."
    • Watson-38186 (Jean Watson): baptised 5 May 1771, Prestonpans, daughter of James Watson and Jean Dickson (FamilySearch XY2G-V2K, XTYD-FBL); named in the baptisms of James (1807), Hacket (1809) and "Thomas Pitully" (1817, FQM7-74H); "Jane" on her headstone (Find a Grave 35766529).
    • Robson-1781 (Jane Robson): no parents entered; buried Woodstock Presbyterian Cemetery (Find a Grave 218711148). Pattullo-42 (Halkett): born 31 Jul 1809 (Find a Grave 195354125), with the Ontario marriage and death indexes that name him.
  • Read again 10 Oct 2026 for the pages of the brothers and sisters:
