Notes
Great-great-great-grandfather of Jane Maria (Deyoe) Adams; the son of Pierre Deyo the patentee and grandson of Chrétien, who remembered him in his will with “forty pieces of eight and a small gun.” He settled in the Springtown neighbourhood north of New Paltz, where his descendants still farmed in 1909. His name is in the list of taxpayers in 1712 (£50), of soldiers in Capt. Hoffman’s company about 1715, of those who built the first stone church in 1720, of freeholders in 1728 and of slaveholders in 1755; he was a deacon of the New Paltz church in 1733 and an elder in 1765 (source). His children, as Hasbrouck gives them: Peter (1702), Jacobus (1704), Moses (1706), Maria (1709, m. James Auchmoody, “a Scotchman”), Angenieter (1712), Esther (1715) and Margaret (1717) (source).
