Notes
Mother of Susanna (Rand) Ellingwood. The second child and eldest daughter of Richard Cheever, Boston cordwainer, and his wife Abigail; she married Robert Rand, joiner, on 26 Jan 1709/10, and had eight children (source). She died on 18 Nov 1748, four years before her husband (source).
She does not descend from Ezekiel Cheever, the schoolmaster, as the Ancestry tree has it. Her father
was the nephew of Bartholomew Cheever, sent for from Canterbury as a boy, and Bartholomew’s will of
1693 names “Cousin Ezekiel Cheever schoolmaster” and Richard as two separate cousins. Ezekiel was
probably a first cousin of her grandfather (research/ellingwood/Ellingwood_Woodbury_Rand.md).
