Marion Orinda Cummings
Probably the mother of Ella Persis Chapin, who married Edward Browne. Born at Randolph Center, Vermont, in 1818, probably to Joseph Cumins and Hannah Converse, she went west with her parents to Geauga County, Ohio, and married Dr. Marvin Chapin at Parkman, Ohio, in 1847. The Ancestry tree has her dying in Cook, Illinois, before 1900; the family genealogies say at Wausau, Wisconsin, in 1889.

Notes
Ella Browne’s mother: born in Vermont in 1818, she went west with her parents to Geauga County, Ohio, and married Dr. Marvin Chapin at Parkman, Ohio, in 1847 (source). Her brother Theron Cumins, who reached Dixon, Illinois, with “but $3 in his pocket,” became the proprietor and then president of the Grand Detour Plow Company, in the village where John Deere made his first steel plow (History of Lee County, 1881, pp. 195-196). Her middle name came from her aunt, Orinda Converse.
