What it says

A compiled genealogy, read in the Cape Cod research (research/ellingwood/Ellingwood_Cape_Cod.md, October 2026). “JOHN 3 NICKERSON (Joseph2, William1) … died at Harwich before 1722. He married before 1709-10 SARAH BASSETT, probably born at Yarmouth, Mass.; daughter of Nathaniel and first wife, Dorcas (Joyce) Bassett … was married 2nd to JOHN ROGERS 18 April 1728 in Harwich … Sarah was known to be living in 1744 when mentioned in a deed by her son, Eleazer Rogers, as ‘Widow Sarah Rogers’.” Their children included Sarah, who “married 17 November 1737 … JOSEPH 4 COLE” of Eastham. The book also quotes William Nickerson’s examination at Yarmouth, England, in April 1637 and the Plymouth court’s proceedings over his purchase of Monomoy (Chatham) from the sachem.

Read in the archive.org full text (https://archive.org/details/nickersonfamilydunse) for the generations above Sarah (Nickerson) Cole: William Nickerson, “born 1604, Norwich, England, son of William and Alice ( ) Nickerson; died between 30 August 1689 and 8 September 1690 at Monomoit,” and Anne Busby, “born 1607-08 in Norwich; daughter of Nicholas and Bridget (Cocke) Busby; died after 18 May 1686” (leaves 16-20, with the court records of 1656-57, William’s account of Anne’s care of her parents, and his deed of 1661/2 to Elizabeth Eldred); Joseph, “born at Yarmouth, Mass. December 1647; christened 16 December 1647 … died between 1725 and 1731 in Harwich,” who “married before 1677, probably at Yarmouth, RUHAMAH JONES, born about 1650; daughter of Teague Jones; died after 1735,” with the family tradition of Ruhamah (leaf 41); John (leaf 52) and Sarah (leaf 97), whose children by Joseph Cole are listed there.
