Jeannie Beatrice Short
Third child of John G. Short and Mary Pattullo, born at Woodstock, Ontario, in 1884 and known as Beatrice, or Bea. A registered nurse, for many years director of a public health nurses' association in Indianapolis, as Cudge Ellingwood's memoir has it, she gave the particulars of her father's death at Spokane in 1916. Sister of Ruth (Short) Ellingwood; she died in 1969.

Sister of Ruth (Short) Ellingwood. Registered at birth as Jeannie Beatrice (record), she was “Jennie B.” in the 1900 census (record) and Beatrice, or Aunt Bea, to the family. She was at her parents’ home in Spokane when her father died in 1916, and gave the particulars for his death certificate (record). Cudge’s memoir has her a registered nurse, director for many years of the public health nurses’ association in Indianapolis; she spent a summer with the Ellingwoods at Little St. Germaine, Wisconsin, and in 1935 gave them the Old Town canoe they sailed for thirty-five years. She was unmarried in 1920, when Cudge met the family.
