John G. Short, of E 715 25th Ave., Spokane. Male, white, married. Born Dec. 22, 1845; age 70 years, 9 months, 18 days. Occupation: retired. Birthplace: Ontario. Father: John Short, born England. Mother: Mary Jeffrey, born Scotland. Informant: "Dau.-Beatrice Short," E 715 25th Ave. Filed Oct. 20, 1916, May E. Bartelt [?], deputy registrar.
Died Oct. 20, 1916, at 4:30 a.m. The physician, F. Epplen, M.D., of Spokane, attended him from Jan. 15 to Oct. 20, 1916, and last saw him alive on Oct. 19. Cause: chronic myocardial degeneration and arteriosclerosis, of several years; contributory, senile dementia, of several months. Burial: Greenwood, 10-22-1916. Undertaker: Smith & Co.
What it shows:
- His parents again, now with their birthplaces, England and Scotland. The informant was his daughter Jeannie Beatrice.
- 22 Dec 1845, the birth date the Ancestry tree carries. His age at marriage and the 1900 census both point to 1847 instead (Ontario marriage registration, John G. Short and Mary Pattullo, Woodstock, 1879, 1900 United States census, Chicago (Hyde Park Township, ward 34), Cook County, Illinois: John G. Short household). The age given here does not quite match it either: from 22 Dec 1845 to 20 Oct 1916 is 70 years, 9 months and 28 days.
- Greenwood is Greenwood Memorial Terrace, Spokane, where Find a Grave has him (memorial 143119792).
