Notes
Sister of Mary (Pattullo) Short. She married John Laidlaw on Christmas Day 1862, the year her sister Jane married George Rennie; the Oxford County register names her father, Halket Pattullo (record). In 1871 the Laidlaws were in Blenheim Township with three children: Andrew, J. Robson, who carried his grandmother’s maiden name, and one transcribed “E. J. Anderson” (the census, as WikiTree has it; source).
Their son Andrew Laidlaw went into the newspaper business with his uncle: by 1892 the firm that owned the Woodstock Sentinel-Review “consists of himself and his nephew, Andrew Laidlaw” (Cochrane’s Canadian Album, source). Her brother Thomas’s will of 1876 left her an equal share of the residue with the other brothers and sisters.
She died at Hamilton on 9 January 1924, the day after her eighty-first birthday by WikiTree’s date; her death registration names her father as Halkett Pattullo.
