Beverly compiled register: the Ellingwood families, with the division of 1743

Read in the research file (Ellingwood_Master_Research.md, October 2026). A family page in Beverly’s compiled register: Ralph and Sarah Ellingwood’s children, Sarah (5 Oct 1712), Israel (29 Sep 1714), Ralph (18 Aug 1716; “dead before 175_” in the margin), Ephraim (11 May 1718), Icabod (6 Nov 1720), Esther (29 Jan 1721/2), Daniel (28 Jul 1724) and Abiel or Abia (12 Aug 1726).

In the margin, the division of Ralph’s estate (he died intestate, at sea, in 1728/9; the widow administered as “Sarah Ellinwood alias Allen” after her intention with Zebulon Allen in 1730): “Israel 2 shares, Ralph, Daniel, Esther, Abia, and Sarah West, 1 share each”, the double share going to the eldest son; and a note of 6 Dec 1743, “Israel Ellingwood of Boston, coaster, for self & guardian of brother Daniel, a minor.” Ephraim and Icabod are not in the division and probably died young.

With Ralph II’s will of 1741, this is the record that places Israel in Ralph III’s family.

• “Benjamin & Mary Ellingwood. Benjamin the father died March 28 1731 aged about 64, Sabbath day”: their children Benjamin (27 Jan 1689), Eleanor (7 July 1688), William (1 Nov 1691), Patience (19 June 1693), Mary (23 Apr 1695), Priscilla (3 Mar 1696/7) and David (17 Aug 1699), with the baptism dates beside them.
• “Ralph and Martha Ellingwood”: Abigail (22 Jan 1695/6), Return (22 May 1692), Ralph (18 Apr 1694) and Ebenezer (29 Aug 1697), with Thomas and Esther added below, and their baptisms (Ralph “ch. April 22. 1694”). A pencilled note gives Martha’s own baptism, “Feb. 25. 1700”.
• Marriages, on the facing page: “1682. Marriage of Ralph Ellinwood and Catharine ___ declared null for his incompetence”; “Ralph Ellenwood and Martha Robison [interlined: Rowlandson of Beverly] married August 21 [?] 1691 by Mr Samuel Cheevers of Marblehead” (the Marblehead records give 19 Aug); “Jan. 8. 1685. John Ellingwood of Beverly m. Elisabeth Rowlinson of Salisbury at Marblehead”; “John Ellenwood and Sarah Morrell married March 30. 1698”.
• “1 mo: 1677. Ralf Ellenwood, a childe of ye covenant, publickly rebuked and admonished, for stealing meal at mill.”
