Robert Rand
Farmer at Woodend, in the north of Lynn, Massachusetts, by 1649, who had been a servant of the Boston merchant Robert Keayne; Keayne left him forty shillings in 1653. He died at Lynn in 1694, a year after his wife Elizabeth. Probably the father of Robert Rand Jr. of Lynn, and possibly himself a son of Robert Rand of Charlestown.
Life
- 1694Died8 Nov 1694, Lynn, Massachusetts
"Roberd, sr., Nov. 8, 1694." The tree's birth "1622, Lynn" is impossible: Lynn was settled in 1629.

Family
- Father
- Robert Rand of Charlestown
The Rand genealogy (pp. 9-10) follows T. B. Wyman's late, unpublished opinion, from an unspecified 1709 deed, that he was a son of Robert and Alice (Sharpe?) Rand of Charlestown. Against it: Alice Rand's will (1683) names her son Nathaniel, grandsons, four daughters and the daughters of her son Thomas, but no Robert, though Robert of Lynn lived until 1694; and Savage keeps the two men apart.
- Spouse
- Elizabeth
"Elizabeth, w. Robert, sr., Aug. 29, 1693." Her surname is unknown. The tree's "Elizabeth Welch, b. Lynn 16 Oct 1633" is disproven: Elizabeth Welch married Robert Rand the sailmaker in 1709.

Notes
Great-grandfather of Susanna (Rand) Ellingwood. He had been a servant of Robert Keayne, the Boston merchant censured in 1639 for overcharging and the founder of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company, who remembered him in his long will of 1653: “Item I give & bequeath to Robert Rand of Lyn sometime my servant forty shillings to be payd him within two yeares after my decease, if he be then liveing in this country” (record). By 1649 he was farming at “Woodend,” in the north of Lynn (source). His wife Elizabeth died on 29 Aug 1693 and he on 8 Nov 1694 (record).
The Rand genealogy gives their children as Robert (b. about 1653), Zechariah, Hannah (b. Aug 1657, m. Jacob Knight), Elizabeth (m. Joseph Hall), Mary (m. Nathaniel Kirtland) and Sarah (m. 1674 Ephraim Hall).
