Notes
Father of Abigail (Munn) Chapin. Born at Springfield in 1700, the son of Nathaniel Munn and Sarah Chapin, he lived at Brimfield and at Monson, which was set off from Brimfield in 1760: “BENJAMIN MUNN … son Nathaniel & Sarah (Chapin) Munn, of Brimfield and Monson, Mass.” (source). He married Rebekah Russell at Brimfield on 30 Dec 1731, and the town recorded their children: Benjamin (8 Oct 1732), Joseph (1 May 1734), Abner (28 July 1736, who died in 1738), Abigail (14 Sept 1739) and Jeremy (11 Apr 1754) (source); The Chapin Book adds Reuben (1742), Rebekah (1745) and Mary (1749). He died at Monson in 1775.
The Chapin Book ends his entry: “Benjamin Munn was in Pequot and Indian War and was given land in Soldiers field.” The Pequot War of 1637 was his grandfather’s: Savage has the elder Benjamin Munn of Hartford “serv. in the war with the Pequots, 1637” before he moved to Springfield (source).
