Mother of Sarah (Chapin) Munn. The Chapin Book gives her as “Abilenah Cooley, dau. Samuel Cooley, of Milford, Conn., b. 1642, d. Nov. 17, 1710, ae. 68, Springfield,” the first wife of Japhet Chapin, whom she married on 22 July 1664 (source). The couple probably lived for a time at Milford before settling at Springfield (Chicopee), where she bore ten children between 1665 and 1688. Japhet’s brother Henry married Bethia Cooley, daughter of Benjamin Cooley of Longmeadow.
