Notes
Grandmother of Abigail (Munn) Chapin, and the link through which the family descends from Deacon Samuel Chapin. She was the second of the ten children of Japhet Chapin and Abilenah Cooley: “SARAH CHAPIN 1-1-2. dau. Japhet & Abilenah (Cooley) Chapin, b. Mch. 15, 1668, Springfield, Mass., d. Nov. 23, 1747. m. Mch. 24, 1689/90, Nathaniel Munn” (source). Her husband was the youngest son of Benjamin Munn of Springfield, a veteran of the Pequot War. Their son Benjamin settled at Brimfield and Monson, and his daughter Abigail married Lt. Jonathan Chapin, so the Chapin name came back into the line.
