Adam Haberkorn
Probably the husband of Eve Rubner and father of George Haberkorn, who married Theresia Lang. A stonemason and brewer, he came from Bavaria to the Dubuque area of Iowa with his family in 1844, as the National Register nomination has it, worked in the lead mines, and helped found the Catholic parish at Sherrill's Mound in 1852. As the Ancestry tree has it, he died there in 1889.

Notes
George Haberkorn’s father. The National Register nomination of his son’s farm (1979, from family papers and Dubuque newspaper articles) calls him “a stonemason and brewer who came with his family to the Dubuque area from Bavaria in 1844. Adam worked in the area lead mines, but the family income was augmented by a small brewery … and the sale of bread baked by Eve Haberkorn in the stone oven near the farmhouse.” He and George built the stone house in 1870, whose front room became a tavern and the local polling place (source). He was one of the leaders in founding the Catholic parish at Sherrill’s Mound on 28 March 1852, whose first church was a log one dedicated to St. William (source).
His son’s 1894 biography says instead that Adam and Eve “spent their entire lives in the Fatherland” (source). The nomination, the 1852 parish and the tree’s death at Sherrill’s Mound all go against it.

Open questions
- His birthplace: the tree’s “Wald, Altötting” is in Upper Bavaria, far from Waldthurn and Obertresenfeld in the Upper Palatinate, where his son and father are placed. Probably a mis-standardized place name.
- He and Eve are given the same birth date, 24 Dec 1799, which looks copied.
