Born at Scarborough, as the Ancestry tree has it, he married first Mary Libby, in 1783, and secondly Abigail Warren, at Scarborough on 11 Nov 1786 (record). His children by Abigail, as WikiTree lists them: Daniel (1787-1864), Mary Cotton (1788-1870), Ruth Sherburn (1790-1871), Rufus (1794-1840), Coburn (1796), Abigail (1798), Elizabeth (1800-1868), Hannah (1802), Sally (1804), Anna (1806) and James Sullivan (1808-1893) (source). The family lived in the Freeport-Pownal district, where Rufus was born in 1794. No Revolutionary service has been found for him.
