Essex County register of vital returns, and the Salem fair copy (FamilySearch films)

The E page of the county register of returns from the towns. Near the top: “14 March 55 Ralph Elinwood maryed to Ellen Lyn: their son Ralph born 18 March 57. son John born 2d July 59. Joseph bo: 12:3:62”. Further down: “Ralph Elinwood his daughter Mary bo: by Ellen his wife 3:2d:64, daughter Elizabeth born 27 June 66, David born 6 July 70, Benjamin born 1:2mo:68.” The dates are in the old style, with March the first month.

A page of the county register of births returned from the towns, 1689-1695. Near the foot of the right-hand page: “Ralph Ellenwood Son of Ralph Ellenwood & Martha his wife was borne 18 April 169[4?].” The last figure of the year is worn away; the Beverly records give 1694. The next entry, Benjamin Walcot, was “Born at Salem 23 April 1695.” This full page replaces an earlier clipping of the same entry.

An index page of the Salem copy of the town records, with each entry’s year, book and page. The right-hand column, under “Ellinwood,” lists the children of Ralph and Ellen: Raulph 1657, John 1659, Joseph 1662, Mary 1664, Elizabeth 1666, Benjamin 1668 and David 1670, all at book 1, page 17, and Ralph 1694 at page 165. The left-hand column has two Ralphs, one of 1655 (probably Ralph and Ellen’s marriage [?]), and later Ellinwoods from 1712 to 1775.
