What it says
Compiled genealogy. Gives Joseph Peck’s baptism at Beccles, 30 Apr 1587, as son of Robert Peck and Hellen Babbs (daughter of Nicholas Babbs); his marriage to Rebecca Clark at Hingham, England, 21 May 1617 (she was buried 24 Oct 1637); his death, 23 Dec 1663, “in the seventy-seventh year”; and Joseph Jr.’s baptism, 23 Aug 1623. Quotes Daniel Cushing’s Hingham record of the 1638 arrival: “Mr. Joseph Peck and his wife with three sons and daughter and two men servants, and three maid servants, came from Old Hingham, and settled at New Hingham.” Prints Joseph Jr.’s will (5 July 1697, codicil 11 Mar 1701): “I give unto my daughter Hannah wife of Daniel Reed & to her heirs forever all my medow in the north purchase & twenty pounds”.
Peck says the pedigree in the British Museum is his source, “excepting the two last families, those of Robert and Joseph, which are added to it”, and that the motto “has been added”.
