Daniel Read
Capt. Daniel Read, born at Rehoboth in 1680 to Daniel Read and Hannah Peck. He married first Elizabeth Bosworth (1706/7), with whom he had six children by 1713, and then Elizabeth Ide (1715); he died in 1740. Probably the father, by Elizabeth Ide, of Capt. Daniel Read (c. 1716-1801), who married Mary White.

Notes
The birth record’s “Daniell, Jan. 20, 1680” is probably 1680/81, which fits his death on 13 Sept 1740 “in his 60th y.” (inference). J. W. Reed (1861): “He was known as Capt. Read.” His son and namesake (c. 1716-1801) carried the same title.
Children by his first wife, Elizabeth Bosworth (Rehoboth VR p. 724): Beriah 1707, Ichabod 1708, Hannah 1709/10, Abigail 1711, Esther 1712, Daniell Sept 9, 1713. The children of his second marriage, to Elizabeth Ide, have not been checked in the Attleborough records; J. W. Reed’s list of them, born at Attleborough from 1716 to 1737, is on her page. Capt. Daniel Read (c. 1716-1801) is taken to be one of them.
His widow Elizabeth died 31 Dec 1759.
