Notes

Grandmother of Susanna (Rand) Ellingwood. Born at Lynn, the second child of Thomas Ivory and Mary Davis, and entered in the town book under the Aramaic of Mark 5:41, “Talithacumy” (“Talitha cumi,” “Damsel, arise”). She married Robert Rand Jr. on the last day of January 1683/4 and had eight children at Lynn between 1686 and 1700, among them Robert, the Boston joiner (record).

Through her the Ellingwoods are kin to the Burrills of Lynn: her aunt Lois Ivory married Lt. John Burrill, and their son John Burrill (1657-1721), Speaker of the Massachusetts House, was her first cousin. Timothy Pickering, Secretary of State, descends from the same aunt.

Open questions

  • Her death. The tree’s “13 Oct 1740, Lynn” is not in the Lynn records.
