Notes
Mother of Mary (McMillan) McMillan. A daughter of John MacDougall, the Glen Urquhart bard, and Euphemia Bethune; she married William McMillan and came with him to the South River of Antigonish, Nova Scotia, in 1818. After his death she went to the United States with her youngest son, Alpin: Blair says to Illinois (source), but a “Penuel Ann MacMillan,” aged 88, was buried at South Beaver Dam, Dodge County, Wisconsin, in February 1870, near her daughter Mary’s home at Calamus. The rare names Penuel and Alpin run through her daughter’s and her son John’s families.
