Notes
Father of Mary (McMillan) McMillan. Rev. D. B. Blair, minister at Blue Mountain, Pictou County, wrote about 1890: “William MacMillan, the brother of Ann, wife of Donald Campbell, married Penuel MacDougall, the sister of John MacDougall the elder at Blue Mountain. He emigrated to Nova Scotia from Glenurquhart in 1818, and took up his residence at the South River of Antigonish in the county so called. After his death, his widow with the youngest son Alpine removed to Illinois in the United States. But his eldest son Donald still continues to live at the South River of Antigonish” (source). His sister Ann and her husband Donald Campbell came out in 1820 and named their valley on the Moose River “Urquhart, in memory of the place he left in Scotland.” His parents are not named anywhere seen; a christening at Urquhart in 1786 on FamilySearch is unverified.
