Notes
Wife of John Kneeland of Boston by 1659 (Torrey). Their children were recorded at Boston: Mary 1659, Hannah 1663, Mary 1666, John 1668, Solomon 1671 and Ruth 1673 (Boston RC 9). Kneeland 1897 (p. 50) says the first Mary died on 19 Oct 1660 and adds a Rachel, born 20 Jan 1675, unmarried, who died in 1753.
Through her parents she was a granddaughter of Jane Hawkins, the midwife banished from Massachusetts, and of John Mills of the Winthrop Fleet (Sumner 1948, pp. 139, 178).
Mollie's typescript

Checked against the records
- PossibleMary Hawkins was a daughter of Col. James Hawkins and Mary Mills
Probable: Torrey and the Great Migration make her a daughter of James Hawkins, and John Mills's will (1678) names his daughter "Mary Hawkins". James was a Boston bricklayer (will 1669), and nothing shows he was a colonel. His parents Richard and Jane Hawkins are supported by the sons' petition of 1651.
