Probably the eldest son of Joseph Woodworth and Sarah Stockbridge, born at Scituate, Massachusetts, in 1670. He married in 1694 and moved to Little Compton, Rhode Island, where his sons Joseph and Jedediah were born, and later to Lebanon, Connecticut, where he owned land in 1739. His wife's name is not known. Probably the grandfather of Lemuel Woodworth (b. 1735).

Notes
Eldest son of Joseph Woodworth and Sarah Stockbridge of Scituate. “JOSEPH, b at Scituate March 19, 1670, m 1694, and moved to Little Compton, R. I., where his two children were born. He afterward moved to Lebanon, Ct., where he owned lands, in 1739, as appears from the record of a deed by him to his sons” (source). His wife’s name is not given. The two sons were Joseph, born 17 March 1696, and Jedediah, born 1 December 1699, both in the Little Compton records. The family’s move from Scituate to Little Compton and then to Lebanon, Connecticut, brought this branch of the Woodworths to the town where Lemuel Woodworth was born.
