James Rice

Probably the James Rice who married Abigail Warren at Scarborough, Maine, on 11 Nov 1786, after a first wife, Mary Libby, and so the father of Rufus Rice (b. 1794) and ten other children, raised in the Freeport-Pownal district. As the Ancestry tree has it, he was born at Scarborough in 1764 and died there in 1837.

Notes

Grandfather of Mary Abigail (Rice) Ellingwood. Born at Scarborough, as the Ancestry tree has it, he married first Mary Libby, in 1783, and secondly Abigail Warren, at Scarborough on 11 Nov 1786 (record). His children by Abigail, as WikiTree lists them: Daniel (1787-1864), Mary Cotton (1788-1870), Ruth Sherburn (1790-1871), Rufus (1794-1840), Coburn (1796), Abigail (1798), Elizabeth (1800-1868), Hannah (1802), Sally (1804), Anna (1806) and James Sullivan (1808-1893) (source). The family lived in the Freeport-Pownal district, where Rufus was born in 1794. No Revolutionary service has been found for him.
