Notes
Grandmother of Mary Abigail (Rice) Ellingwood. She married James Rice at Scarborough on 11 Nov 1786, as Abigail “Warrin” (record), and had eleven children by him between 1787 and 1808, among them Rufus (1794), and a daughter she named Mary Cotton Rice.
Her parents are not known; the tree names none. Scarborough had Warrens of her generation: William
Cotton Warren (b. 1752, a Revolutionary private, who moved to Moultonborough, N.H.), George Warren
(1750-1819, buried at Pownal Center, where her son Rufus later lived) and Jeremiah Warren (1771-1835).
Her daughter’s name Mary Cotton, and George Warren at Pownal, hint, and only hint, that she was their
sister. Nothing ties the Scarborough Warrens to Richard Warren of the Mayflower, and she is not
connected to the Warren line of this archive until her parents are known
(research/ellingwood/Ellingwood_Wives_Families.md). Abigail C. Warren of Berwick and Buckfield
(1764-1850, Mrs. Ricker) is a different woman.
