- Wife of John Holbrook of Scituate and Eastham, whom she married at Scituate in 1709. Mother of Elisha Holbrook (b. 1716), and probably of seven more of his children born 1710-1729. She was probably the Sarah born at Scituate in 1688 to Stephen Chittenden, probably by his wife Mehitable Buck.

- "Sarah, d. Stephen, Mar. 12, 1688" (Scituate VR 1:68; the archive.org OCR reads "i638"). That this is John Holbrook's wife is inferred: no other Sarah Chittenden was born at Scituate near that date (the next is Sarah, daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth, born 1 Dec 1712, VR 1:68). The FamilySearch tree has 1688.

- Stephen Chittenden's wife Mehetable Buck, married 1679; the birth record names only the father. Pane-Joyce has her as the mother.
Sarah was born at Scituate on 12 Mar 1688, probably the daughter of Stephen Chittenden recorded there, "Sarah, d. Stephen" (Scituate VR 1:68), and probably of his wife Mehitable Buck. She was baptized on 2 May 1708, "Sarah, d. Steph[en]," the year before her marriage. On 3 May 1709 she married John Holbrook (1686-by 1749) of Scituate and Eastham: "John and Sarah Chittenden, May 3, 1709" (Scituate VR 2:151). She was the mother of Elisha ("Elisha, s. Jo[h]n Jr. and Sarah").
King Philip's War had touched both families before she was born. Benjamin Chittenden, probably her uncle, was killed with Capt. Michael Pierce on 26 March 1676 (Newman's letter, Deane p. 123), and Pierce was her husband's grandfather, if, as it seems, her husband's mother was Abigail Pierce. Her grandfather Isaac Chittenden came through the raid on Scituate that May and died later in the year; Deane's story that he "fell in repulsing the Indians from the Town 1676" (p. 232) is a mistake.
