Printed transcript of the early Dorchester town records, read in the archive.org full text. The Millett births: John, 8 (5th mo.) 1635; Jonathan, 27 (5) 1638, died 15 (6) 1638; Mary, “26th. (6th.) 1639” (26 August); Mehetabel, 14 (1) 1641.

The Humphrey burial: “Sarah, the daughter of Jonas Humphrey & Frances his wife was Buried (7th.) 1638”, that is, in September 1638. It is the one record found that names Jonas Humphrey’s wife Frances.

The Mathers and Atherton (used for the Hatten research, October 2026):

  • Births: “Samuel Mather the Son of Timothy Mather was Born the 5:7: 1651. Richard Mather the Son of Timothy Mather was Born the 22 : 10 : 1653. Catheren Mather the Daughter of Timothy Mather was Born the 6:11: 1656” (p. 6); “Timothy the Son of Richard Mather was Born March 20 : 81” (p. 18); “Elizabeth the Daughter of Richard Mather was Born November 20th. 82” (p. 19); “Samuel Son of Richard Mather was born January : 3d : 84” (p. 31); “Joseph the son of Richard Mather was born february : 29 : 86” (p. 32).
  • “Mr. Timothy Mather & Elizabeth Weekes were Married by the Worshipfull Mr. Bradstreet March 20th. 78.” (p. 24).
  • Deaths: “Major Humphrey Atherton Deceased this Life the 17 (7) 1661.” (p. 26); “Mr. Richard Mather, the Reverend Teacher of the Church of Dorchester, Departed this Life, the 22d. (mo: 2) 1669. the 73 year of his Age.” (p. 27); “Elizabeth the Wife of Mr. Timothy Mather Died May 15th. 78.” (p. 29); “Mr Timothy Mather died the fourteenth day of January: 84.” (p. 120).
  • Marriages solemnized “by Major Atherton,” 1658-1660 (p. 20).
