What it says

Found on Find a Grave, 10 Oct 2026: two photographs (by Rev Sue), a tall white column on a pedestal at Dixon’s Union Cemetery, Caledon (houses beyond, snow on the ground), and the inscribed panel of the pedestal; the memorial is Thomas Robson’s, 88997126 (findagrave-robson-family). The panel reads:

THOMAS ROBSON / Died Dec 16 184[1?] / Aged 76 yrs / ALSO / JEAN CLARK / Died May 1 1844 / Aged 74 yrs / Natives of / Roxburghshire / SCOTLAND

The last figure of Thomas’s year is worn; FamilySearch has 1841. A verse in script on the base of the pedestal is too worn to read in these photographs.

What it shows:

  • A Thomas Robson and Jean Clark from Roxburghshire died in Canada in 1841 and 1844, aged 76 and 74: born about 1765 and 1770.
  • They match the parents the FamilySearch tree gives Jane (Robson) Pattullo: Thomas Robson (1765-1841, GLPN-J9V) and Jane Clark, married at Eckford, Roxburghshire, 3 Aug 1793 (online-tree-familysearch-short-pattullo). Jane was born at Eckford about 1809 and married Halkett Pattullo in the Home District in 1833.
  • The stone does not name Jane or any child. But it stands at Caledon, the township where she married Halkett Pattullo in 1833, and Find a Grave’s memorial lists her among their children with Margaret (Buckham), James and Euphemia (Foster).
