Her stone gives her age at death as in her 35th year, so born about 1688/9. The Churchill Family in America (1904) has "b. 1688." The Plymouth VR leaves her birth date blank.

The master tree marks her parentage [C]; the line research calls it an inference. A Mary is among "The children of Eleazer Churchell & Mary his wife" in the Plymouth VR (p. 13), with no birth date; The Churchill Family in America (1904) makes that Mary, b. 1688, the wife of Edward Stevens.

Notes
Wife of Edward Stephens of Plymouth (married 23 Dec 1708) and mother of Edward Stephens Jr. Her youngest child, Eleazer, was born 10 Dec 1723, and she died 25 Jan 1723/4. Through her father Eleazer the Stephens family descends from John Churchill and Hannah Pontus, which made Phebe (Stephens) Ellis and her husband George Ellis third cousins. She was a first cousin of Elizabeth (Churchill) Ellis, wife of Capt. Joel Ellis: their fathers, Eleazer and Sgt. John Churchill Jr., were brothers.
About 1718 “Mary the wife of Edward Stephens” was baptized as an adult in the Plymouth church, in a group that also included Hannah, wife of Eleazer Churchill, and a “Mary Stephens” was admitted to membership on 6 July (Plymouth Church Records, CSM 22, catalogue of members and p. 219).
Open questions
- A record naming Eleazer Churchill as her father (his probate or a deed).
- The Holbrook-Low colonial tree marks both her parents as documented, from the Plymouth VR’s “The children of Eleazer Churchell & Mary his wife.” The page keeps them compiled and probable: that entry gives no dates, so tying its Mary to Edward Stephens’s wife rests on her age at death and on the Churchill genealogy.
Mollie's typescript
Mollie lists her children by Edward Stevens with their marriages, Edward among them, who married Phebe Harlow.
