Notes

Mother of Edwin C. Dwyer. Born in Minnesota on 7 July 1863, the eldest of Henry Tisdell and Elizabeth Connelly’s ten children; at Burnsville, Dakota County, in 1865 (“Martha A Tisdale”), then from 1870 on her father’s homestead at Birch Cooley, where she was at school in 1880, living next door to the Dwyers. She married Cornelius Dwyer about 1882, at eighteen, and bore at least eleven children; she went with him to Otter Tail County, Montana, Turlock and San Francisco, and died at Santa Clara on 13 May 1947, aged 83. Her death notice names her as “Martha A., beloved wife of the late Cornelius S. Dwyer,” mother of Henry V., Edwin C., Lawrence L., John F. and Raymond P. Dwyer, Mrs. E. J. Boudinot, Mrs. Ted Neuman and Mrs. Walter Golden; a Requiem High Mass was said for her at St. Clare’s Church, Santa Clara, and she was buried at Holy Cross Cemetery (record). (Recorded as “Mary A.” in 1930.)

In the records the tree attaches (not checked here):

  • 1880. Birch Coolie, Renville, Minnesota; Occupation: Student; marital status: Single; relation: Daughter (record)
  • 1900. Newton, Otter Tail, Minnesota; marital status: Married; relation: Wife (record)
  • 1910. Turlock, Stanislaus, California; marital status: Married; relation: Wife (record)
  • 1920. Turlock, Stanislaus, California; Occupation: None; marital status: Married; relation: Wife (record)
  • 1935. San Francisco, California (record)
  • 1940. A D 21, San Francisco, California; marital status: Married; relation: Wife (record)

The tree also carries a “Cris S. Thyer” and three Thyer children, Henry, Agnes and Martha B. (1889-1895). “Cris S. Thyer” is very probably C. S. Dwyer misread: Henry and Agnes are his own children (the 1895 census and his 1941 death notice), and Martha B. is probably Martha Veronica. Edward Cornelius Dwyer is Edwin entered twice.
