Notes

Brother of George Ellis (b. 1747). Administrator of his father’s insolvent estate, 1790. Probably the Joseph Ellis who was corporal in Capt. Nathaniel Wood’s Middleborough minute company on the Lexington alarm (marched to Marshfield), and served on the Rhode Island (1776) and Dartmouth (1778) alarms (Mass. Soldiers and Sailors 5).
