Notes

Eldest son of Capt. John Holbrook (1686-by 1749). Probably the “John Holbrook Junr of Eastham,” miller or mariner, in Suffolk court cases of 1739-1742, who on 18 Oct 1742 bought a dwelling house on Great Chebeague Island, North Yarmouth, Maine, from William Robords (York County deeds). That fits Vinton’s “John, the eldest, removed to Maine.” In 1749 letters of administration on his father’s estate went to “John Holbrook of Eastham… Seafaring man,” very probably him.
