Notes

Wife of John Holbrook (c. 1650-1731) of Scituate, married 1671. Her father’s will of 15 Jan 1675/6 gives “my daughter, Abigail Holbrook five pounds” and £5 to “my grandchild Abigail Holbrook,” so she was married with a daughter by then (Pierce Genealogy pp. 34-35). Her daughter Abigail, born 11 May 1675, was the eight-month-old grandchild of the will (inferred).

The compiled sources disagree on her husband. Deane (1831, p. 325): “Abigail married Samuel Holbrook 1682.” The Pierce Genealogy (1889, p. 36): she married John Holbrook and had Thomas b. 15 Jan 1672 and John b. 19 Nov 1686. The will shows she was already “Abigail Holbrook” in January 1675/6, so Deane’s 1682 date cannot be her first marriage (inferred).

She died at Scituate on 29 Sept 1723, aged 77, and is buried beside her husband.
