Wife of Samuel Rider Sr. of Yarmouth and mother of Samuel Rider Jr. Her husband’s will of 20 Nov 1679 names her as his wife and leaves her “all my Estate both housings and lands and Movables” for her life or widowhood; she swore to his inventory on 17 Jan 1679/80 (MD 11:50-51), and outlived him by sixteen years.
In February 1679/80 Elizabeth and Samuel Mathews described the raising of her son Joseph’s house. Anne “Came into the house … and Cryed and wrong her hands fearing that Joseph would Goe away,” saying “if you would beleive a woman beleive mee that youer father saith that you shall never be Molested,” and that if he went “shee would Goe to[o].” That morning “old Goodman Ryder … marked out the Ground with his stick; and bid the said Joseph sett his house where it Now stands” (MD 11:51-52).
