Both "residing at New Paltz" (LeFevre); Hoes's Kingston registers no. 535, as the research cites it.

Great-great-grandfather of Jane Maria (Deyoe) Adams, and a grandson of Pierre Deyo the patentee. He left his father's home at Springtown, near New Paltz, and married Jannetje Freer at Kingston in 1724; "Jacobus' name does not appear on the records at New Paltz, but in 1738 it is found in the list of foot soldiers of Kingston" (source). He paid £1 in the tax list of 1728. Their children, baptized at Kingston: Antje (1726), Marytje (1728), Jacobus (1732), Zara (1734, m. Pieter VandeBogart), Hester (1737, m. Pieter Kidney), Pieter (1739) and Michael (source). He or his widow moved to Dutchess County, and he was dead by 1754, when she married again. In 1756 the heirs of Christian Deyo, the old patentee, included "Jacobus' heirs: Peter J, Peter Kydney's wife Esther, Isaac Lewis' wife Mary, Peter VanderBogart's wife Sara."

Research: Ellingwood line: the wives' families (Pattullo and Short, Adams and Deyoe, Rice and Sylvester).
