What it says
A page of the Beverly register listing children by date, a week apart (so baptisms, Sundays), with each father’s given name and the mother’s or the family’s surname: “Oct 3 … Israel … Ralph j[r] … Ellingwood”. The same “j” marks other fathers on the page (“Joseph j”), so it reads as junior. The mother’s given name is not entered. Ancestry indexes it as the birth of Israel Ellingwood, 3 Oct 1714, father Ralph Ellingwood; Ellinwood (1963) gives his birth as 29 Sep 1714 and this date as his baptism. The FamilySearch image of the same page (“Beverly, Essex, Massachusetts, United States records,” Beverly Town Clerk), downloaded on 10 Oct 2026, is in the Gallery.
The same opening also has, in June 1713, “Sarah … Ralph j[r] … Sarah Ellingwood”: the baptism of Israel’s elder sister Sarah, born 5 Oct 1712. On the right-hand page, 31 July 1715, “Benj[amin] … W[illia]m … Ellingwood”, a child of William and Abigail (Woodbury) Ellingwood.
