The will, 11 Aug 1802. “… That my Beloved Wife Hopey, have the use and improvement of all my Estate both real & personal, during the term, or time she shall remain my Widdow … the remaining two thirds … to be equally divided between my Six Children hereafter named, to wit, Richard Ellingwood, John Ellingwood, Sarah Ellingwood, Ralph Ellingwood, Susannah Ellingwood, & Lucy Ellingwood.” Hopey sole executrix. Witnesses: Francis LeB. Goodwin, Timothy Lombard, Ralph Ellingwood.
Probate. “R. E. Frankfort Mercht. proved 2 May 1803.” Warrant to appraise the estate of “Richard Ellinwood late of Frankfort Merchant deceased”, 5 May 1803. Inventory, 24 May 1803, of “Richard Ellingwood late of Frankfort … Trader”: store goods (earthenware, hats, drawshaves, scale beam, salt), “1 Store at the Shore”, a dwelling house ($900) and barn, “72 Acres of Homestead Land” ($600), cattle, sheep, “Old Salmon Nets & old casks”, two lots in Goshen, and “3/4ths of Schooner Hope” ($1,500); total $3,588.44. A list of some thirty notes of hand, among them Holdershaws and Downses, $2,063.77. “Hope Ellenwood Executrix” swore to it at Castine, November 1803.
