Compiled genealogy. Used for Nicholas White Sr. (freeman 10 May 1643; the Uncaty land suit; Taunton by 1655; a Block Island purchaser in 1661; inventory taken 13 July 1697), for Matthew White’s second marriage to Damaris Dean in 1715 (no record of it found), for Damaris’s marriage to Benjamin Tree in 1731, and for the children of Daniel Read and Mary White from the Attleborough records: Matthew July 23, 1742; Hannah June 26, 1744; Mary 1746/7; David 1748/9; Peter 1751; Joel 1753; Eunice 1755. Gives the Read-White marriage as 2 May 1741, against 2 April in Bailey.

  • Nicholas White Sr. (pp. 5-12): his 1656 petition about the 20 acres at Uncaty bought of Henry Woolcot in Aug 1647, from which Mr. Hutchinson ousted him (Mass.   • Nicholas White Jr. (p. 16): of Taunton, probably on Dean Street, selectman four years, died at Norton probably at his eldest son’s home; will dated 15 Sept 1724, proved 28 May 1728; inventory £1553 19s 3d; division entered 15 Dec 1730; the sword “at Thomas White’s” and the gun “at widow Mary Hall’s,” and the executor’s charge for going to Marshfield “to pay debt due to Thomas Macomber.”
  • Matthew White: of the North Precinct of Norton (later Mansfield); his first wife Susanna Hall, b. 1 Nov 1696, married 10 July 1711, no children.
  • Benjamin Tree’s first wife Hannah died at Attleborough 26 June 1728; Mary Tree, daughter of Benjamin and Damaris, born 22 Sept 1732.
  • The full list of the children of Daniel Read and Mary White (pp. 40-41) runs on after Eunice: Daniel, Nov. 10, 1757 (the OCR reads “1767”); Ezra, May 2, 1760; Levi, Aug. 19, 1762; William, Dec. 27, 1764. Their son Peter, a clergyman, moved to New Haven, and his son Ezra worked “with his uncle, Daniel Read, in publishing musical and other works in New Haven.”
