What it says

A compiled history of the New River Collins family. It prints Eula Collins Conley’s research (as published by Marlin Cline) with Blackburn’s bracketed additions: the “Conley list” of Meredith Collins’s children (Bradley, Reuben, Edward, John W., Archibald, James, William), Meredith’s enlistment at sixteen in 1776 with George, David and Lewis, and the family stories told by Harold Keith Talbot and Vernice Trimble, including the Edward “Ned” legend. It quotes Orange County, Virginia, Order Book 3 (27 Jan 1742/43), Louisa, Granville, Wilkes, Ashe and Botetourt records (the 1771 Botetourt tithables; the 1773 delinquent list marked “Indian Lands”), and says Meredith was “probably son of John Collins Sr. who was son of old Thomas.”

Its single militia roster (labeled “Osborn Company,” “Osburn & Cox” or “McDaniel’s Company”) runs together three of Kegley’s lists and is superseded; see book-kegley-1975-militia-montgomery-county.
