Notes
Of Gloucester; Babson says he “settled near his father.” Mollie Pfeiffer’s statement that he lived on the west side of the Annisquam River belongs to his brother John.
Babson: “Thomas settled near his father… He had a second wife (Elizabeth); who died May 19, 1729, aged fifty-nine… Of his eleven children, four were sons, who married and had families in town, Thomas, Moses, Aaron, and Joshua” (History of Gloucester, p. 131). The VR gives Elizabeth’s death as May 19, 1727.
Two male-line descendants of his, “with classic genealogical proofs of descent from Thomas’s son, Thomas”, gave Y-DNA samples. Their results matched descendants of Edward Riggs of Roxbury (Smith and Anderson, TAG 82 [2007]: 125).
Mollie's typescript
Mollie says he took no important part in town affairs, owned several parcels of land, and married Ann Wheeler of Salisbury, the mother of all his children (her placing of him on the west side of the Annisquam belongs to his brother John).
He did not take an important part in town affairs. ... Thomas Riggs (2) married, 1st. Ann Wheeler of Salisbury. She was the mother of all his children although he was twice married after her death.
