Mary Pontus
Daughter of William Pontus, whose will of 1650 left her his house and goods. Widowed when her first husband, James Glass, drowned in 1652, she was probably the second wife of Philip Delano of Duxbury, married in 1653/4, and the mother of Rebecca (Delano) Churchill. She outlived Philip and had a life share in his estate in 1682.

Notes
Daughter of William Pontus. She married James Glass on 31 Oct 1645 (PCR 8). By him she had daughters Wybra, born 9 Aug 1649 (PCR 8:7), evidently named for her grandmother Wybra Hanson, and Hannah. Her father’s will (9 Sept 1650) calls her “my eldest Daughter Mary” and left her his dwelling house, lands and goods, with her husband “James Glasse” as executor (MD 11:92). James Glass drowned in 1652, and an inquest was held on him (PCR 3:16, index entry). As “Mary Glasse Widdow” she swore to the inventories of both her father and her husband at the court of 4 Mar 1652/3; her husband’s estate included “2 cowes and a steer,” a sow, three chairs and “one fowling peece” (MD 11:93-94).
On 17 Jan 1653/4 she married Philip Delano of Duxbury as his second wife; their children were Jane, Rebecca (later wife of Sgt. John Churchill Jr.) and Samuel (Wikipedia). In 1659 Philip sold land at “Coaksett or Cushena” “with the Consent of Mary his wife.” She outlived him: the settlement of his estate in 1682 gave “his wife a Cow” and the use of a third of the orchard and land for life, and her son Samuel, “onely son to the Relict,” administered it (MD 11:250).
