Notes

Caroline (Humphrey) Adams’s mother: born at Union, Connecticut, the daughter of Joseph Enos by his third wife, Abigail Keyes of Ashford, when he was sixty (source). Her full brother Joseph was “Joseph Enos of Marcellus, N. Y.” when he married in 1805 (source), and Marcellus is where she and Joseph Humphrey settled after their marriage. She died at Whitewater, Wisconsin, in 1855, aged 74 (source).

Through her the family descends from the Windsor settlers of the 1630s and 1640s: James Eno the barber, John Bissell of the ferry, and Thomas Holcombe.
