The identification is argued in section (b) of the Mayo research.

Yeoman of the North Precinct of Eastham, now Wellfleet. On the precinct committee in 1729, 1730, 1732, 1733 and 1734; assessor in 1733; treasurer in 1736 and in most years to 1750; moderator on 20 Aug 1747; on committees in 1752 and October 1754 (MD 6:53; 7:232-235; 8:24; 13:185, 188). Pratt (1844) lists him as treasurer 1742-1756 and Freeman prints "1742-66," but the precinct records show him treasurer by 1736 and Zoheth Smith chosen "Clerck & Treasurer" in March 1752.

From the precinct records: on 22 June 1724 he, Jeremiah, Samuel and Elisha Mayo "entred there denial against mr Josiah Oakes any Longer continuing in ye work of ye ministry in this precinct" (MD 4:229). On 24 Mar 1741/2 it was "Voted that Daniel Mayo be agent to prosecute ye defective Constables Barnabas Young and Eleazer attwood"; his daughter Anna later married a Barnabas Young (MD 10:223). On 18 Mar 1744/5 he was "impowerd to dispose of those two spots for pews that remain unsold and repair the glass of the Meeting House" (MD 10:225). On 20 Aug 1747 "mr Daniel mayo was choosen Moderator" of the meeting that chose Zoheth Smith and Elisha Holbrooks agents to petition the General Court for a tax abatement, "more Especially by reason of the present Spreading of the Small pox amongst us," so Sarah's father and husband were at the same meeting (MD 11:75). At the seating of the meeting house on 20 May 1749, "ye South East Corner pew" was recorded "to Daniel mayo" (MD 11:77).

Why the administrator of 1715 is Mary Mulford's husband: the 1716 division names Daniel (eldest son) and Jeremiah, and Daniel and Jeremiah Mayo appear together in the precinct from 1724; Jeremiah married Mary Mulford's sister Elizabeth in 1725, and Thomas Mulford's will (1728) names both "Mary Mayo" and "Elizabeth Mayo"; Mary joined the Truro church, where her father was Elder; his son was "Daniel Mayo junr" in 1739; and no other Daniel Mayo of the right age is found at Eastham, 1710-1755.

His will (8 Nov 1754, proved 29 Jan 1755) divides the estate among "my Eldest Son Daniel" (two shares), "my son Samuell" and "my Daughters viz Sarah the wife of Elisha Holbrook, Martha the wife of Ezekiel Holbrook, Anna the Wife of Barnabas Young [and] Mary the wife of Elisha Bigford," with £9 to his daughter Mercy; executors his wife Mary and son Daniel.

The "Sarah Mayo the daughter of my son Daniel" of his grandfather's will (1702) was his sister (b. c. 1689), not his daughter.
