- Aged 52, with her husband James Bate and their children.
Wife of James Bate and mother of Mary (Bate) Foster. She married James Bate by licence on 13 Sept 1603 as "Alice Glover of Saltwood" (Watkins, NEHGR 51:270), which supports the maiden name Glover that Mollie gives her.
She came with her husband and children on the Elizabeth in 1635, aged 52. "Alice Bate" is in the early list of members of the Dorchester church (Records of the First Church at Dorchester). Her son Richard Bate of Lydd, jurat, left "unto my mother Alice Bate in New England twelve pounds yearly during her life" (will of 19 June 1656, proved 3 Apr 1657; NEHGR 51:268).
