Pulborough, Sussex, parish register

WSRO’s catalogue says the earlier entries were copied into the book in the 18th century, so the early baptisms are known only from that copy. Seen on FamilySearch (“Pulborough … Baptism Registers 1595-1879,” image provided by West Sussex County Council), record 1:1:Q2QW-CQSV.

Baptism of Edmund Freeman, son of Edmund Freeman, 25 July 1596. The baptisms of his siblings (Alice 1601, Eleanor 1603, John, Elizabeth 1609), the marriage of Alice Freeman and John Beauchamp (27 Dec 1615), the baptism of Alice, daughter of Edmund the younger (4 Apr 1619), and the burials of Edmund the elder (6 June 1623), Bennett (Hodsoll) Freeman (12 Apr 1630) and the infant Nathaniel (12 Sept 1629) are cited from this register in Dawes-Gates and the FamilySearch tree; not all have been seen in the image.

The register begins in 1595, so the “Ellen” born 1592 in the FamilySearch tree cannot come from it.
